Back in the Saddle is a powerful documentary created in partnership with the Texas Equine Veterinary Association Back in the Saddle campaign, powered by the Texas Equine Foundation. The film captures the inspiring effort to restore beloved youth horse camps in the Texas Hill Country after unprecedented flooding struck Kerr County on July 4, 2025. In a matter of hours, historic flash floods devastated longstanding equestrian programs — barns washed away, tack and equipment lost, horses displaced, and generations-old traditions threatened. For countless young Texans, horsemanship is more than recreation — it’s where character, confidence, resilience, and lifelong friendships are born. This documentary follows the Back in the Saddle campaign, a statewide movement led by veterinarians, camp leaders, and equine advocates to rebuild the infrastructure and spirit of these camps. Through beautiful and emotional storytelling, the film highlights: The history and heart of the Hill Country’s equine youth camps The devastation wrought by the historic floods The collective response to rebuild barns, arenas, fencing, and equine facilities The impact of horses on campers' lives — teaching empathy, responsibility, courage, and belonging The work of the Texas Equine Foundation in coordinating resources and support to the most affected programs At its core, Back in the Saddle is a testament to community resilience, the enduring bond between humans and horses, and the importance of preserving traditions that help shape young leaders of tomorrow. It underscores that restoring these camps is not simply about rebuilding structures — it’s about restoring opportunities, experiences, and the irreplaceable lessons that only come from time spent with horses.
